Suzuki Motorcycle Plans To Launch Three New Products

,the renowned two-wheeler maker and a subsidiary of Japan-based Suzuki Motor Corporation, is soon planning to launch three new products. These product s will be launched in the next 18 months and will cater to the mass market.

During the launch of Suzuki SlingShot 125 cc motorcycle, Anand Singh Thakur, senior manager (sales and marketing), SMIPL, commented that they will be coming out with a 100 cc motorcycle and two scooters and are in the process of finalising the project. The manufacture of these new products will take place at the at Gurgaon plant of Suzuki Motorcycle. The present portfolio of Suzuki in terms of both scooters and motorcycles includes Access 125, Suzuki GS150 R, and GSX-R 1000, Bandit 1250S and Hayabusa. The company is targeting a 10 per cent market share in the motorcycle segment in India by 2012 with the launch of SlingShot. In the scooter segment, Suzuki has got a 26 per cent market share with a monthly sale of 20,000 units.

Thakur also stated that Suzuki Motorcycle is planning to increase its dealership network to 350 from the current 226, across India by 2012. The company is aggressively expanding its production capacity to 540,000 units from 250,000 units by 2012, added Thakur. Suzuki Motorcycle has made an investment of Rs 500 crore in SlingShot bikes which are priced at Rs 44,737 ex-showroom. These recently launched Slingshot bike is available in four attractive colours. At present, the company is exporting to Nepal . The company is also planning to export to Sri Lanka and Bangladesh just as its production increases. Thakur was quoted saying that the main focus of the company will be on the domestic market. They will try to make it available in all the two-wheeler sub-segments in the future.
