Taking breaks is something that is also important. If you are able to rest between the mini goals there will be a rejuvenating process that will be beneficial for your cleaning.
There are a lot of people that try to keep the worst part of the organizing until the very end of the organizing process. This may be a natural process, but it is also a way that you should not go about organizing.
When you have the most energy and the most gusto towards organizing you should tackle your hardest project. For the majority of people this means that it may be most beneficial for you to start with the most difficult process first.
After you have tackled the most difficult of the projects you will be able to continue to finish the rest of your organization process. There are a lot of people that will feel a large sense of accomplishment after they have finished the hardest project.
For a lot of people the hardest project that they will have to confront is their closet. There are a lot of families that use closets as a dumping ground instead of an organizational tool.
There are many different companies that specialize in making organizational tools for closets. They can be made in specific dimensions that will enable you to fit them in the closet.
Before you put an organizational system in your closet you have to make room for it and figure out how you are going to organize it. Starting from the top and working your way down is the best way to deal with a closet.
First, you should start by taking everything out of the closet. This may seem very overwhelming and when everything from the closet is piled outside of the closet it will probably seem like there is just too much stuff to even deal with.
Slowly but surely you will be able to work through all of the objects that are in your closet. You should always take the time to go through all of the items.
This may be very hard for you. You may not want to throw any of the objects in the closet away.
If you find yourself getting into the routine of keeping everything that is in the closet you will want to reevaluate your attitude. You should throw away anything that you have not used in the past year.
There are some exceptions to this rule but for the majority of objects that are in the pile you should keep even if you have not used them in a year. If you are trying to decide what you want to throw away you can even counsel with those that you live with.
If you are worrying about being wasteful you should realize that there are many different programs that will take the things you want to throw away and use them in charitable institutions. You can donate your belongings to a local good will.
If you choose to donate your old items to the good will can deduct the items that you donate from your taxes. There are many people that have done a lot of good by donating the items that they no longer use.
One man's trash can become another man's treasure. You can give people the opportunity to buy your used items for much less money than you bought the items for.
Taking the time to clean out your closets will be well worth it in the end. You will have to dedicate a lot of time and a lot of energy to this project but you will be very happy with the results after you finish.
