Taming The Fly Away Frizz In Your Hair
Whether your hair is razor straight or bouncy and curly
, you could find it turning frizzy and full of static. These conditions are common with dry, dehydrated hair. The key to keeping hair under control is to learn how to increase the supply of moisture, as well as retaining hydration.
Dry hair is a result of the natural oil producing glands not providing enough oils to coat and protect your hair. Over washing is a big culprit when it comes to dry hair, as you could be washing away your hairs natural oils. So rule number one for dry hair is to keep the shampoos to a minimum.
If possible, only wash your hair every other day. When you do wash your hair, choose a moisturizing shampoo and conditioner. Leave-in conditioners are also great for fly away frizzy hair, because it coats your individual hair shafts, protecting them and sealing in the moisture.
A good conditioner will also add some weight to your hair, which will keep it more manageable. Avoid using small toothed combs or brushes on wet hair. If you must style wet hair, use a wide toothed comb to avoid damaging weak hair. Letting your hair air dry is best, because blow dryers can penetrate the hair shaft, evaporating your natural moisture.
If you must use a blow dryer, use a heat shield balm to seal and protect the hair shaft before you dry. Keep your dryer on the lowest setting to avoid burning or harming your fragile locks.
Low maintenance hairstyles are the best choice for static prone or frizzy hair. The more you have to brush, comb or style your hair, the more frizzy it is likely to become. Therefore, if possible, opt for some wash and go layers or a simple straight cut. Perms and highlights can further dry out your hair, making manageability even more difficult.
Last but not least, just as you protect your skin from the sun, protect your hair also. A wide brimmed hat or a shady area is ideal. If you can't avoid the sunshine on your hair, find a protection spray with a high sun protection factor to deflect the harmful rays of the sun.
