Teaching MLM Marketing Systems Effectively
Teaching MLM Marketing Systems Effectively
In a preceding article, I shared an example of how we increased our mlm recruiting through restructuring how we taught our mlm marketing system. We often spend time teaching people how to use a system, but fail to teach them why the system is designed as it is. One thing I have learned is that the why is just as important as the how. When you understand why you have to do things in a certain way, taking action with the how becomes a necessary step in building your business. If you want fewer team members trying to circumvent the process, or find the magic shortcuts, you need to show them the purpose of each step and how it relates to the results.
Just in case you are scratching your head at this point, here is some insight. A previous mlm marketing system my team was using, included a particular set of interview questions relating to a individuals's financial picture. Initially, most new partners were very uneasy asking individuals questions about their current earnings, their debt, and their credit, because after all asking individuals how much money they earned or how well they were doing was clearly unthinkable. Since our company accommodates different programs for opening a business, including installment and financing options, the information was especially important to know about our prospects. Awareness of the person's finances allowed us to help the person make the best decisions regarding how to start their business, and what tools they would be able to take advantage of.
As soon as our team understood why we needed the information, it became easier for them to matter-of-factly conduct an interview without skipping pertinent questions. Without understanding why, to the average person it just seemed like an invasive question. All aspects of an mlm marketing system must be relevant to the overall process, otherwise that detail wouldn't be included.
Why Is Your MLM Marketing System Designed That Way?
Timing and the flow of procedures is vital to succeeding with every mlm marketing system. Effective education should include teaching your team why the order and timing has been established . It has been said that timing can make or break any business deal. To expand on that concept, the timing and process, or changing the order or system can be the difference between succeeding and failing.
Here is another example of what I mean. If you expect an individual to commit too early in the process, or if you neglect to ask at the right time, it can be a deal breaker. Even if that person seems to be a perfect fit for your business. If you fail to take enough time to establish trust, build a connection, demonstrate value, and show a person how your opportunity can help them, you may be regarded as aggressive or desperate. Pushing people before they've had adequate time to educate them self can result in distrust, and you can lose the deal altogether. On the contrary, if you don't ask for a commitment at the right time, or allow too much time to pass, a person can lose the level of enthusiasm, begin to over analyze or question their decision, skepticism sets in, and you've lost a potential new recruit as well. These are two examples of why teaching order and timing is critical with your mlm marketing system.
The purchase price or cost of investment plays a big role in the timing of a process within a mlm marketing system. If the investment is larger, the time with be lengthened. When a new team player knows why the cycle may incorporate multiple steps for larger investment decisions, or less steps for smaller investment decisions, it clarifies the grounds of why they must follow the system. If you are asking someone to invest $2000-$4000 with your opportunity, it would be safe to say, you are probably not going to ask that question during a first or second contact. If you're asking without giving first, perhaps you have experienced more people running in the other direction, rather than eagerly asking to sign on the dotted line. Whereas, if you promote a business that has initial costs of a few hundred or less, the perceived risk is far less, so the trust building process doesn't take as much time.
More About Teaching "Why" In Your MLM Marketing System
Example one Our mlm marketing system uses scheduling appointments for first contacts. Why? The majority of newer members don't have a confident posture to direct a conversation during a first contact, and are not prepared to field questions early in their business. Setting an appointment also sends the message you are a professional and can only schedule time with the serious candidates.
Example two - We permit possible candidates to evaluate our merchandise or mlm marketing system risk free prior to making a commitment. Why? Due to the higher perceived risk due to start up cost, so allowing a person to see, touch, and feel the product or system, adds value, builds credibility, allowing a prospective partner to build belief in our company. When someone has first hand experience, they can make an educated decision which removes buyer's remorse.
Example three - Everyone must study our comp plan training before moving forward with our company. Why? The training answers the key questions for the person of how they make money, what business building options they can choose from, and it shows them how they can achieve their goals as well as how long it might take on average. The training lets them know what to expect, as well as what is realistic and attainable. Ultimately, it does the job of explaining everything, so you don't have to, you simply help them make the right starting decisions.
Example four Our system uses third party validation by means of 3 way calls. Why? It shows people there is a team ready to support them, letting them know you're not a one man show. It is also used to edify you as a leader, while proving the mlm marketing system produces results, instilling confidence in their decision to work with you.
These are just a few examples of teaching the why of a mlm marketing system. Through the years I have witnessed people try to use alternate options, remove steps, and try to take short cuts. When you change a recipe, you change the result. It is when we recognize why every step within a mlm marketing system is important, that we actually completely uphold the process as intended. The stumbling block for so many new team members is not necessarily their ability to do the how, they just haven't been explained why.
