Testing Out Your Guitar Ability With Easy Guitar Songs
If you have been playing the guitar for a few weeks or months then you may be at
a point where you have become bored with the monotony of practicing notes and chords. This type of practice is important, of course, in order to gain a sense of familiarity with the guitar, but it can also become boring if you do not diversify your practice routine occasionally. One great way to change things up is to add some easy guitar songs to your practice sessions. Easy guitar songs can be hard to find if you don't know what to look for. Easy guitar songs for beginners are even harder, since you don't really know what is considered easy. Easy guitar songs for beginners are considered songs that have less than 4 chords. So if you listen to a song and hear more than 4 separate chords being played, this is not an easy song. Easy guitar songs are those that have few changes and rely more on accompaniment to create the song rather than the main melody.
There are a few songs available on popular radio over the past few months that many beginners are trying out for the first time. Although some are played with a faster rhythm than others, here are a few ideas on some easy songs to learn as a beginner.
Hey There Delilah by the Plain White T's
Seven Nation Army by the White Stripes
Comfortably Numb by Pink Floyd
Time of Your Life by Green Day
Iron Man by Black Sabbath
Zombie by the Cranberries
Sweet Home Alabama by Lynyrd Skynyrd
Californication by Red Hot Chili Peppers
Buddy Holly by Weezer
Paparazzi by Lady Gaga
I Know You Won't by Carrie Underwood
I Will Follow You Into The Dark by Deathcab for Cutie
More Than a Memory by Garth Brooks
Down the Road by Kenny Chesney
You'll Think of Me by Keith Urban
The Climb by Miley Cyrus
Use Somebody by Kings of Leon
These are only a few songs, a drop in the bucket compared to the thousands of easy guitar songs a beginner can play. Talk to your online lesson teacher about teaching you one of these songs, or simply sit down and learn them yourself. It is always best to have a song taught to you by a teacher, but if you are unable to take online lessons it will take you a bit longer to learn them due to figuring out chords and progressions.
