, the days of print are still here to stay. Despite great advancements into e-books and the like, there are many who still hold books close to their hearts. Perhaps the clear typewritten set lining the pages removes the clutter normally evident in web pages from view, thus allowing one to absorb the true essence of the text. As such, textbooks for cheaper rates will always draw its crowd of loyalists.

Since the business of pursuing academic excellence has indeed become a business of sorts, bordering heavily on the commercial side, ways and means have to be sought to make it affordable. As school and exam fees continue to rise due to economic times, wages and many other reasons, it certainly does not help when reference materials, namely textbooks, jump onto the bandwagon of escalating expenses. Most students end up holding down jobs in order to make it through college. This then raises the question on priority as to whether students are in school to get an education or maintain part-time jobs in order to stay in school.

Often times, causes of expensive education are textbooks. For cheaper alternative to costly printed materials, perhaps publishers should jointly review the publication cost with manufacturers of raw materials. Perhaps recycled paper and cheaper ink may be worth some looking into to preserve the book industry. To alleviate printing costs, there is always the option of e-publishing. Although e-books have still ways to go before appearing in the daily reading diet of the general masses, it is slowly catching on. Perhaps the x-factor of flipping through paper pages cannot be surpassed. However these electronic versions tend to cost less as they have practically no printing costs. It is therefore cheaper to buy such books as compared to conventional ones. Authors also reap greater benefits. Despite a cheaper cost to the public, publishers tend to pay higher royalties. Hence, every transaction adds some small change in ones pockets which can build up to significant amounts as turnover increases. As such, these are obvious factors which root for these cheaper forms of reading convenience.
