The Amazing Iphone 4 - New For Summer 2010

With the Apple iPhone 4 finally available after much media hype

, the question remains, has it been worth the wait?

It is evident that Apple certainly felt that they needed to up their gain with this release, thanks to the likes of HTC and Samsung producing ever more impressive smartphones. So this isn't the usual Apple release. For example the step from iPhone 3G to 3GS saw a slight tweak of features such as processor speed and video recording. I'm pleased to say that the iPhone 4 looks like its totally gone back to the drawing board. A brand new design, new materials and a new operating system can all be found along with a hugely impressive list of features, including High Definition video capture and multitasking facilities. The multi tasking features will be welcomed by previous iPhone owners. With a phone offering such a massive range of applications, the lack of multitasking meant quitting the feature you were in to read a text, check an e mail or perform any other task. Now the iPhone 4 saves the app you are using in its current state to allow you to do something else. When you want to return to your previous task, a double tap on the home button produces a list of most recently used icons, where you can then select your desired option and resume. This addition was almost vital, given that phones now are used for a variety of features rather than just for making calls and sending texts.

The video recording facility on the iPhone 4 is a higher quality than what you will find on most mobile devices. Capturing footage in a resolution of 720 progressively scanned lines, a more simple way of explaining it is that it records in high definition. This brings the handset in line with the current range of televisions, laptops and recording equipment. High Definition basically adds more lines to the picture, increasing the amount of pixels and ultimately giving a more lifelike image. The still photo facility has also improved thanks to a new 5 mega pixel camera, which although not groundbreaking by itself, when coupled with an excellent new sensor produces images clearer than can be found on device with a much higher resolution rating. A secondary VGA front facing camera features a focal length optimised for use at arms length. Not only does this make taking a self portrait easier, but also allows users to take advantage of Apples "FaceTime" video calling system.

The improvements found on the iPhone 4 have taken what was becoming a fairly stale format, a breathed new life into it, not only adding a stylish look but also features which eclipse those currently available on other models.
