The Benefits Of Children Who Get Adequate Sleep
Every living, breathing being needs a rest once and a while
. The more rest one gets, the better they tend to function. When someone sleeps, that is the natural time for the body to repair itself. Calories are burned, the system is refreshed and cleansed and the body is re-energized to face the next day. Every adult will admit that a lack of sleep affects them adversely. The same is true for children, but more so. Children are faced with the task of developing their minds and bodies. Their bodies need more consideration, nutrition and rest to help them to develop properly.
So what happens when a child is not given enough sleep? First of all, when children sleep, their bodies produce a growth hormone which of course helps their bodies to grow. Without this hormone, their growth may be stunted. The body grows when sleeping which is why it is essential for children to get rest. Something else that happens if a child does not get enough proper rest is that children are less able to concentrate. Without the ability to concentrate, children will have a very difficult time with their studies.
Learning information in the classroom is incredibly important for children. When they cannot concentrate, they cannot learn. The same is true for learning outside the classroom. The basic inability to learn social skills or simple etiquette can be attributed to the lack of proper rest. For those who are interested in teaching their children solid social skills, it is important that they also provide a way for their children to get proper sleep.
There are multiple side effects for young kids who are not getting adequate rest at night. There are emotional health problems that can stem from a lack of rest. Children are also far less likely to develop their creativity. Many believe that symptoms such as depression as well as weight gain can end up as a negative side effect of exhaustion as well. Other problems, such as a weakened immune system and many, many more come from children who do not get proper rest.
There are indeed several consequences involved with children who do not get an adequate amount of sleep at night. It is therefore important to ensure they are given the tools they need for proper sleep. The tools for such would be a sufficient amount, (eight hours), uninterrupted rest, naps throughout the day (according to age) and a schedule that is maintained to help the body have a rhythm. Indeed, when children are given the proper rest they require, there are several benefits for their mental and physical health as well as for their growth and development.
