Florida Career College (FCC) will add a Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) program to its Brandon campus.

"With the baby boomer generation getting older, physical ailments and medical issues experienced by the general population that demand physical therapy, there could be huge career options in this field," said Dr. Kory Thomas, DPT, program director Program Director of the Physical Therapist Assistant Program at FCC Brandon. "This is a splendid supplement to our syllabus and degree offerings and promotes Florida Career College's aim to prepare students for careers that are in demand so they jump straight from the classroom into the workforce."

"Physical Therapist Assistants aid those of all ages with health-related issues that hamper their quality of life," said Thomas. "I am incredibly thrilled to start this new program at the Brandon campus."

Florida Career College School of Nursing will be adding a brand new intermediary program for Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs) who intend to become Registered Nurses (RNs).

"This is a fantastic add-on to our School of Nursing curricula," claimed FCC Boynton Beach Executive Director Michael Schwam. "Our Associate's Degree Registered Nurse course started in August and is fully subscribed. Now these programs are very vital to us for the reason that our goal at Florida Career College can be said to be to prepare students to step directly from the classroom into professions that are mostly in demand." The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services supposes that the national shortage of RNs should be projected to attain 20 percent by 2015. The Florida Center for Nursing claims that the recent state shortage of RNs may well build up to 52,000 by 2020, with South Florida as the geographic section with the utmost need.

"With rising possibilities and career prospects for nurses in South Florida, we present the guidance and hands-on instruction that our students will need to succeed," said Maxinee Black-Arias, RNC, MS-HRM, MSN, Dean of Nursing for Florida Career College. At present, Boynton Beach is the only FCC campus with the School of Nursing. The school's 9th and newest campus, Boynton Beach spans 35,183 square feet, including 9,000 square feet of classroom and laboratory space dedicated to the School of Nursing and the 5,000 square-foot Spa at The College, that is open to the community and so offers a selection of beauty procedures.
