The Best Thing You Can Do In Life Is Laugh At Yourself
I think one of the main things in life should be that youre able to laugh at yourself for many reasons
. Firstly I dont think its fair to laugh at others if you cant laugh at yourself and secondly I think that If you can laugh at yourself and the mistakes youve made youll be far less stressed and enjoy life far more.
A few years ago we moved to a house with plenty of orchards. Although Ive lived in the countryside for years weve never had houses, which have had orchards, which grow fruit in. When the first summer came and it was time to harvest the fruits I kept saying we needed to sort out cherry picker hire. Everyone couldnt understand the connection between needing to pick the fruit and sorting out cherry picker hire until they thought of the name. They had to explain to me that a cherry picker isnt actually for picking cherrys. Thankfully I could laugh at myself as much as they laughed at me. I assume Im not the only one whos made the mistake but I genuinely thought that the name described what it did; Obviously not. At least I know for future now.
I suppose some people would make a similar mistake with scissor lift hire. Although obviously they wont think its a scissor but they may think that scissor lift hire as a machine, which looks like a pair of scissors.
Although Im happy to laugh at myself I have decided that the best thing would be for me to think things through before I say them so in future I dont sound like Im quite stupid! Well all have our silly moments but if I can reduce a few of mine all the better. Whenever we talk about silly behaviour now the cherry picker story always comes up. Dont think Ill ever be able to forget that. O well, its a funny story at least. Ill just sit tight and weight for them to make a silly mistake and then Ill remind them of it forever. Although Im sure itll never happen.
