If considering purchasing a new vehicle you might be asking yourself when is the best time to buy a new car?
Well this depends on your motivation, if you wish to buy a new car for the prestige alone then there are two times during the year that are most suitable for creating some envy.
Firstly, in March and September, buying a new car coincides with when the latest number plates are released but be warned these are two of the busiest motor sales months of the year which can result in delivery times being a little longer. The second time is when new car models are launched. Nothing gets tongues wagging more than a purchase of the latest model.
Strangely enough these two reasons also provide the bargain hunter and those looking for the best new car deal with a window of opportunity. If the numbers on your licence plate are of little concern to you then buying at the very end of February and August, just before the new licence plates come into focus is ideal. Alternatively buying over the Christmas period can prove economical as this is when sales staff will experience a slow time and may be struggling to hit targets, so are more likely to offer discounts.
The release of a new model will mean that there are still older versions that need to be sold. Here too you can also expect to find bargains as persuading the salesmen in the showrooms to lower the price or give discounts in order to shift their old stock may prove easier. More often than not there is precious little in difference between the models and you may find sales staff prepared to throw in a few extras as well.
