The Big Apple's Hottest Spots For A Serving Of Italian Noodles As Of Now

New York City is no stranger to great Italian restaurants

. If you are looking for good pasta, the Big Apple has an endless number of choices. From the lower reaches of TriBeCa, all the way up to The Bronx, New York has baked ziti, ravioli, gnocchi and other types of pasta to make any fan of Italian food a happy camper.

At the moment, the following restaurants serve up my favorite bowls of ravioli, tagliatelle, gnocchi, fussilli and others.

I went out the other night for a friend's birthday to Convivio, and decided this was my one of the best pasta places in all of the city. Located in Tudor City, Convivio is not a traditional pasta place with specials like gnochetti with crab and sea urchin.

When I want some Italian food with my family, we go to the best family style Italian restaurant in town, which is none other than Carmines. You order for the table here, and the dishes are never ending. Or at least they seem that way.

No list of pasta places in New York City would be complete without mentioning a restaurant in Little Italy. If I'm looking for a great place to catch up with friends, we go to La Mela on Mulberry Street. Any place in Little Italy will get the trick done.

Located in the East Village, Barbone might be favorite place to go to on this list. It is a quiet, unassuming restaurant with fresh pastas made daily. The owner, Alberto, is a great guy and if you are visiting New York and want great food at an affordable price, this is a great spot.

Finally, a Scott Conant restaurant should be named. While the Meatpacking District lacks in great restaurants, Scarpetta is worth visiting. The spaghetti is the star of the show, served al dente to perfection.

One other place worth mentioning is Spina in the East Village. This place rolls their pasta fresh daily and has a constantly changing list of selections. A great place to try if you are in town looking for a cheaper option.
