The Blackberry Torch 9810 - The Old And New Features
The market is yet to be saturated with the fierce battle of the smartphones
, because Blackberry seems to be making a profit out of their series of smartphones. Maybe that is why they released the successor to the Blackberry Torch 9800 the Torch 2.
However, the wise consumer knows how to inspect his new toys and gadgets before he buys them. So what is in store for you for the new Torch 9810? Is it any different than the Torch 9800? What are the upgrades and the improvements on this new smartphone and what can you expect from it?
Torch 2 The Hardware
Taking a look at the hardware of the 9810, there is a good possibility that you might mistake it for the old 9800. Blackberry could have done more tweaking with the design concept of the Torch 9810, but that is a point where it fails consumers. It has exactly the same dimensions as the Torch 9800, resulting in the lack of difference in design. The smartphone comes as disappointing because many people are expecting follow-up models to have smoother and sleeker designs than their predecessors. Sadly, that is not the case with the Torch 9810.
However, it is not good to judge a book by its cover. This review has also taken a very good look under the hood of this smartphone, and pleased to say, the internals are quite surprising.
Under the Hood
It seems that Blackberry has learned its lesson when the old Torch failed to deliver the umph-factor in terms of everything from RAM, to resolution, to camera pixels and HD features. The new Torch 9810 is upgraded with 768MB of RAM, a decent jump from 512MB in the 9800.
The Torch 9810 also doubled its storage capacity from 4GB to 8GB, on top of the microSD slot for cards that can store as much as 32GB.
Another upgrade to the 9810 is its camera. Added features include the HD video recording, face recognition, and image stabilizer.
The HD video recording will be useless without a good screen. For this reason, the 9810 features a 3.2 screen with a resolution of 600x480 VGA in 246 dots per inch. This is a good improvement from the previous 480x360 resolution. When you can capture good moments with your camera and download high definition videos and streaming, you want to view it with the best resolution possible on a handheld touchscreen.
The Torch 9810 also features a 1.2Ghz processor and runs on a new Blackberry OS 7, which justifies the 768MB of RAM and the more powerful processor. The result: faster web browsing on your Blackberry Torch, giving you a seamless performance even as your finger scrolls away on the screen.
Speaking of the screen, the Torch 9810 sports a boldly wide screen that is more accurate than you can imagine. The loading speed of the Internet is one of the most attractive features of the Blackberry, promising efficiency while you work or play on your new smartphone.
