It is true that finding an available domain name may not be so simple. Unfortunately, other websites may already be using the exact name of an existing business, and you may find that every logical variation of that name is also taken.

In this case, the next best option is to select keywords that are associated with the business and its purpose. Search engines function with the use of keywords. By selecting rich keywords, a business can make itself available for when a potential customer seeking a specific service or product enters that keyword into a search engine. Another option is to register multiple keyword-associated names and redirect them to the functional website in order to maximize traffic.

There is some controversy over the use of special characters in domain names. In truth, there is no right or wrong answer to whether businesses should include them in their domain names. If the business name is already taken by another domain name, perhaps simply adding a hyphen may resolve the issue. There is no definitive answer to the dilemma.
