Years ago laser eye surgery was about 1500 dollars per eye. Just like anything else over time things get pricier. Now the surgery would run a person about 2000 dollars an eye. When you think about how much a person may spend on buying new glasses or contact lenses and the cost of repeated visits to the eye doctor this cost is very much affordable. Another reason the surgery may have increased over the years is because of the demand for the procedure. There are so many people who have eye problems and want better vision. There are less expensive eye surgeries but they are not as popular as the laser eye surgery (Lasik).
Testing is another factor that may make the price of eye surgery go up. When test are done to make surgeries more effective; the price goes up. A candidate may visit an office for a consultation and the price may be one thing but by the time the person is ready for their eye procedure the cost might have raised. This is not because the doctor decided to increase the price just because; it is because the technology for the procedure may have changed just a little bit so the price has to go up.
