The Courtroom Is Not The Only Place For Court Reporting Careers
Most of the court reporting job duties do not even take place in a traditional courtroom setting
. Because of the nature of the job and the fact that they basically keep track of the statements that are made during any legal brief, the courtroom is only one area where the transcripts are formulated. For instance, if there is a witness for a trial who is not able to make the court date, they can be interviewed and the court reporter makes a written document of this.
There may be those who do want to have the excitement of working in a courtroom when they work in this industry. The court reporter is responsible for making sure that everything is recorded for future reference. Those who work in this industry must have a strong work ethic and must be able to listen clearly.
Those who are interested in a career in court reporting must attain a higher level of education as there is much to learn. Anyone who wants this type of occupation cannot just walk in off the streets and become a court reporter. For this reason, there must be some schooling that takes place in order to get this job and there are many different schools that can be utilized to gain these skills.
One main skill that is necessary is stenotyping, which is the method of writing the words spoken using a stenotype machine. The other skill is voice writing, which is when the court reporter uses a microphone in a silenced area and repeats back everything that is said word for word. Both of these types of court reporting require a great deal of skill.
Those who want to have a career in or out of the courthouse can choose the court reporting careers. There can be a great deal of excitement and the salary is much better than other professions. Having a rewarding career is important and this is one career that offers that.
