The Death Knight Class

The Death Knight class was designed to be a heroic class

. When they first came out everyone played them, and they were a lot of fun. They were definitely heroic, able to take on many mobs at once, and easily dominate all other classes in pvp.

Whenever a class stands out as more powerful than all the others, you will notice a backlash from other players. Especially if you read the wow forums. Blizzard had no choice but to nerf the class to be on a more level playing field as the other classes. Don't let that fool you. Still today the class is a hard hitting high dps pulling melee monster. It doesn't matter if it's pve or pvp this class is a force to be reckoned with. They even make great tanks if you have some skill. They do have a slight shortage of tanking abilities compared to other classes though, and are considered the most difficult tanking class to play by many players.

Don't think that means that they aren't great tanks though. Their high dps holds aggro like a magnet. A big misconception you'll see a lot as a death knight tank is that other players think your spec is the most important part about being able to tank. But it's NOT. Your gear is far more important than your spec.

I know this because I leveled my death knight tanking dungeons before looking for group was around. I leveled mostly blood, and never had any major issues holding aggro, or getting healed.

But the best part about the death knight class is definitely it's ability in pvp. The plate armor, and hard hitting dps is a nightmare for other classes. Death Knights have abilities to slow their opponent to a near stop, and do big fast dps. If you're up against a caster, it's not even an issue with your anti-magic shell. Even the most difficult classes in pvp like hunters and warriors don't stand a chance against a well prepared death knight with a thirst for honor.
