. Each has advantages from how much the appliance costs at first to what happens when it is used. The purchase decision may rest solely on who is paying the freight or decided in a consensus of the users. There will be some government input as to installation in any dwelling of more than one family for gas safety, as well.

Just the first consideration is the price paid for the cooker. Between a gas and electric device, there is little difference at most retailers. Electric may have a slightly smaller initial cost that may not mean much to the overall decision when weighing all pros and cons. The installation costs for each require a certified engineering installer for that specialty. Again, negotiating may bring these costs into line with one another. Size and space constraints will affect which type possibly not at all as both types come in all sizes.

Gas fueled appliances have been on the rise as far a consumer preference goes. The professional chefs have used gas stoves because the flame is more easily controlled in food preparation. The downside of gas is less than even cooking in the oven, and the real or imagined possibility of gas leaks or explosions.

Unless the appliance is put to more than household use there will not be much deviance in operating costs. The main difference may be in longer heat up time for electric elements that may use more current, and the clock that runs electrically in stand-by mode. These higher costs should be judged by the payer of those costs against the other advantage-disadvantage tally.

Only the buyer and user should decide if the merits of one of these three types of equipment are more useful and would outweigh the demerits of the others. Ultimately, the function should be practical. The person who uses it most should talk about cooking issues, whereas the person who bears the cost may be the one to talk about funding issues.

How the purchase holds up in the long run should be considered, too. After all, this is not a disposable item under discussion. Long term use should be expected of a large cash outlay. There is possibly an intangible cost-benefit analysis that may be performed, as well, as to how this device may impact the environment.

Research may turn up a retrofitted unit or a recycled appliance that allows the homeowner to keep costs lower on initial purchase, reuse something going to waste, or customize an item in a forward thinking way. In this instance, whichever fuel source can be adapted could be the best choice. That may be a greener solution that is preferable to all other considerations when judging the merits and demerits of electric and gas cookers. Keeping in mind that the future is unknown; a decision to impact the present as little as possible might be a good decision for all.
