Moving office can be time consuming, and if not done correctly could have a negative

effect on your business and employees due to the move taking up valuable working hours.

The first thing you need to make sure is that everything to do with the move is processed over the weekend. This will mean trying to get in your colleagues to clean off their desks, pack and move desks, computers etc on these days too and if they are unable to, then make sure someone else is there to give a hand with the absent employees things.

This way no client or business factors will be affected and the move should be all finished by the Monday ready to carry on with work as normal.

If you cannot move at the weekend then be sure to keep contact and work loads either at home or an alternative location. It is extremely important not to shut your business off during the move and do everything in your power to keep your business clients and employees happy.


It is important to pack up your office belongings safely and securely as a majority of items will be of great expense. To do this make sure you use special boxes for moving, bubble wrap and most importantly brightly coloured labels.

Every kind of the moving boxes should be clearly marked with clear, bold lettering and there should also be lists including everything that was packed and in which boxes you should find specific items. This way, if removal boxes go missing you will know exactly what items were inside them and they can easily be returned.

On the first day in your new office, always be prepared for things to not go your way. Internet connections, server disruption or phone systems can easily be effected by the big move so make sure to sort this out correctly before you move in and provide clients with mobile numbers and alternative contacts to keep them up to date.

On this note, be sure to also keep your clients up to date about the move. Not only will there be different numbers etc but the location is important to send around in case of advanced client meetings or new employees are coming to visit your company.

Make sure that you hire a good moving firm when handing over your expensive and precious business belongings. Look for recommendations and reviews on the company and be sure that they are trustworthy before handing over any money or your important belongings.
