Electronic toys are mechanical toys, which are operating electronic technologies, and adopting electronic parts and components to control actions or produce every kind of sound and light effect. Along with the development of electronic technologies, E-toys came into being in 1950s. Originally, toy factories just adopt electronic technologies on the basis of ordinary battery-operated toys. They also use sound, radio wave, or light wave to control the actions of toys, which are called electronic control toys.

Some kinds of E-toys are welcomed among children, because they give consideration to the double functions of study and recreation. Todays technologies just like tomorrows rock and roll: most of parents always cant catch up with this kind of fashion trend, and even through they tell others that they know this very well. Nowadays children are all the skilled players of playing hi-tech products. They can understand and operate a new device faster than adult people, such as short messaging service, which is the most popular item among teenagers market after whelk eliminating cream.

In America, the children of middle class families all own computers, game machines, TV sets, and DVDs commonly, and more and more children have cell phones. Children know many kinds of hi-tech products very well when they are still little, which will influence their future life truly. Parents are still not sure whether they should provide whole hi-tech products for their children when they are still very little, or make them not be affected by this weird electronic world as far as possible. But one point we can be sure: people are spending too much time on computers, and then the side effect will emerge, such as inside wrist joints syndromes, muscle atrophy, and Vitamin E deficiency and so on. And these symptoms will emerge among children more and more. Parents hope that computers will make children get technology skills, and encourage them doing more meaningful things, not just playing computer games or chatting with others through internet.

Nowadays, people have already found the balance between science and technology among new hi-tech products. Many hi-tech products are very popular among children and young people, because they are appropriate to these peoples life styles and needs, and teach them how to get connection with developing electronic world.
