The Fastest Way To Self Realization
Before we begin to talk about the way to self realization
, we need to be clear about what is blocking us from self realization. We have to become aware of what we are constantly doing that pushes us further and further away from our own realization of oneness.
As thoughts arise, we identify with them. With every thought that arises, we say this is me. And our attention is constantly identified with this me; my worries, my wants, my money problems, my fears, my judgments. And with everything thought we identify with as me we empower this sense of me, we empower the ego; we empower this sense of separateness. And it is this separation that is the suffering, that causes tension and keeps us from self realization.
Even when we try to attain self realization, we tend to make this effort from this sense of me, which is what is keeping us from self realization in the first place. We can end up simply identifying with spiritual ideas and this again just empowers the ego. This me has just become identified with being spiritual. And whether we identify ourselves with being spiritual or unspiritual or even being awakened, we are still imprisoned by the ego and this is what reinstates us feeling separate and in conflict with everything around us.
Even with many valid zen practices, the mind finds a way to make it about me. I recently wrote about the zen technique of witnessing the mind, and one person exclaimed how much they are succeeding at witnessing their thoughts and their dream was to be in a constant state of witnessing.
So you see that success oriented sense of me remains, is still dominant. And so what is meant to transcend the ego can end up still being about empowering the ego. It is not the practice that is wrong, it is just that we have empowered this sense of being a separate me for so many years, it is hard to find freedom from it.
So a simple way to self realization is simply that, to realize the Self, your sense of simply being beyond the ego and let your focus remain on that. So in this moment, close your eyes and become conscious of what is present beyond thinking. Become conscious of what you are beyond thought. Feel this sense of I that is here beyond the thought of I.
If you are attempting to do it intellectually, you will not experience it. You have to sense what is here beyond thought. And in this practice, you will begin to experience that you absolutely exist beyond this thinking me. You feel that even beyond the thought I am Sarah that you still exist, as consciousness itself.
This feeling of what you are beyond thinking is not solid, does not have borders, yet it is aware or more truthfully, it is awareness itself. And as you begin to relax into it you will also feel that the nature of this awareness is peace and love.
And this is the first part of self realization, to experience for yourself what you are transcendent of thought.
Feel yourself existing in this moment, beyond being a person, beyond being a name, beyond the thinker, transcendent any sense of me there is still the feeling that you exist as consciousness itself.
And then once you feel that you are awareness, fix your attention on the realization that you are consciousness, approach life from this feeling that you are consciousness. Not the concept that you are consciousness, but the very experience, the very feeling in this moment that you are consciousness.
By focusing your attention on consciousness, you awaken to self realization; you awaken to the truth. You begin to dis-empower this sense of being bound by the thinking me with all of its stress and struggles and begin to taste the oneness you truly are beyond thought. You begin to come into a state of enlightened awareness that is permanent.
This simple path to self realization is something you can do in sitting meditation but you can practice it also at any other time of the day. During work, while driving, while you walk, while you exercise, even while you are sleeping.
However, this practice although powerful in itself is usually not enough to attain self realization. More often than not, the presence of an enlightened teacher is needed.
One who has already attained full enlightenment actually emits Shakti, the subtle energy of self realization. And it is this energy that actually awakens you to self realization. Simply by being near such self realized Guru, this Shakti gets transmitted to you and begins to awaken you into deep meditation and samadhi.
Because of some incredible breakthroughs in audio recording, you are now able to enjoy this same Shakti through a unique CD. Simply by listening to this Shakti meditation CD, deep meditation and peace are naturally awakened in you, leading you on the easiest path to self realization.
