The Four Pillars Of StumbleUpon Marketing For Businesses
StumbleUpon is a social news community where members discover and share webpages. I actually use the site a lot myself and I love it because it's so easy to bookmark my favorite articles and webpages that are relevant to my business. From a business owner's perspective, this kind of service makes sense because information and the industry changes so fast that if you don't have a way to keep track of all the information of what's relevant to you, you're going to be left in the dust.
In this article I'm going to break down the four pillars of StumbleUpon in regards to customer to communication, brand exposure, traffic to your site and SEO.
1. Customer Communication - StumbleUpon it is really not a tool that is useful for customer communications or customer interactions. There is a random chance of getting a message to your current customers in the StumbleUpon user base is growing every day. With that in mind, StumbleUpon really doesn't compare to other social sites for customer communication. If I were to rank this category in terms of good, okay and bad, this category would get a "bad" rating.
2. Brand Exposure - Just in case you weren't aware, there is a paid campaign with StumbleUpon. The paid campaign can be good for brand awareness especially after you have attempted to get free organic traffic to your homepage. You have the ability to target very accurately, but keep in mind that you're paying a high cost for the paid campaign. In terms of readiness category, the brand exposure would get an "okay" rating.
3. Traffic To Your Site - What's really nice about StumbleUpon is that it does a great job of driving traffic to your site. StumbleUpon is the social media equivalent of a traffic grand slam it doesn't happen often, but when it does, it's huge! It's a good idea to keep your discoveries diverse. You never know when you will get hundreds of thousands, even millions of visitors from StumbleUpon. Therefore, this rating is "good".
4. SEO - Another strong point of StumbleUpon is there search engine optimization. It's very good if your story makes it to the top page for its tag because StumbleUpon has a large user base. Many people can find your story and they can link to them. For vanity searches, your profile page ranks well too. Bottom line is that this category of search engine optimization would be ranked "good".
