Where is shaving technology going to take us next? The current shaver market already has pivoting heads, super flex systems, linear drive motors, double foils and oscillating blades, these all just seem like sexed up buzz words. If they would explain them in simple terms it would sound like this.

"Buy the new flange 500 it moves up and down a little bit better, the blade move round slightly faster, and its battery life is slightly longer. "

This wouldn't sell shavers though, so everything has to be new technology, faster speeds, super flexing and amazing pivoting action.

Many years ago it was believed that people would use shells to scrape away the bristles and later copper was used in a similar fashion. I don't think back then it was so much to do with the aesthetic, but was more to do with practicality and the irritation beards or bristles would cause.

Now its very much dictated by the users lifestyle and taste and trends. Most electric shavers are directed towards, business men, commuters, party goers etc.

I wonder what the future of shaving technology will be. Will it just be slightly better pivoting heads better flexing and slightly faster motor speeds, or will there be a big leap where we will just shoot a small blue laser at our face and all the bristles will gone.
