The Golden Rule of Marketing - How to Attract Customers for Life

If you're in business, you want the same thing everyone else in business wants

. We all want to sell our artwork, our products, our services. Or maybe you just want to start by getting people to read your blog. Ultimately, your goal may be to sell your work, but if that's all you're focused on, what's the cost? Selling one product or one service to one person one time doesn't do you a whole lot of good if that person never comes back, never refers anyone else to you!

The real key to building a successful business, a well-visited website, or a popular blog is to create lifetime customers and fans.

So let me give you one thing you can do today to get more people to see your work and then in turn possibly purchase your product or service.

Everybody who's creative or who is in business wants more people to see their work, wants more people to view & admire what they've done. And they'd especially love it if people would buy one or more of their items once they're done admiring it.

That's the whole idea of marketing. You want people to appreciate what you have to offer, and then invest in it so it doesn't feel like just a waste of your time and investment.

So, what do you do to accomplish this? What's the one secret? Well, it's very simple. Basically we're talking about the golden rule. Do unto others as you would want done unto you. So if you'd like people to pay attention and appreciate what you have to offer, show interest and appreciation in what other people do.

So for example, if you're a photographer, go and look at other people's photos and leave comments. It can be a good comment, pointing out what you like about it. Or it could even be a professional comment about what could be changed or improved upon. But it should definitely be a comment that adds value to what the person is offering, to the conversation.

Here's another simple tip for you. People enjoy writing their blogs and posting their videos. And they love it when people comment on that. It validates all the effort they put into those posts or putting together that video. I can guarantee you that almost every blogger out there feels the same way. So if you want to be seen and appreciated by a blogger, for instance, go and comment on their work. This will bring you a million times closer to establishing a stronger relationship with that person. And that's what it's all about, creating relationships, making friendships, developing connections with people.

It's not just about making money, not about just getting your work out there and having people buy it. Because if that's all you focus on, you're just going to generate one-time sales. You don't want a one-time transaction. You don't want someone to just come to your site or purchase your product one time. You want them to come back again and again. You want a life-time customer.

So what if you don't do this. What will happen? Maybe you'll just keep in your little shell, not reaching out, not giving back to others. So don't be afraid to comment on other people's creativity, writing, etc. Don't be afraid someone will be offended by it or criticize what you have to say. And if someone does criticize it, that's ok. Because it's more about them than it is about you or your comment. So go start commenting. It's a situation of give and take. You'll see amazing results by giving of yourself, and not just thinking about what you can get. So maybe set aside a half hour every morning to go look at other people's works and make valuable comments.

I guarantee you that by doing this one simple little thing, the traffic back to your site and the number of people interested in what you do will exponentially increase. So start commenting!
