The Highly Efficient A6

The new Audi A6 in Newbury will be open for UK orders from January 2011 and deliveries will start from the spring

. The latest model in the Audi line up has been redesigned from the ground up, and incorporates the German manufactures most advanced technologies.

The new A6 boasts advanced lightweight construction material namely, aluminium and steel. It also has highly efficient engines, advanced chassis and innovative in car technology. But, the A6 promises to deliver on more than just on the technology front, the new car is claimed to achieve more than 57mpg and produces only 129g/km of CO2.

On its release in the UK the A6 will be available with four highly efficient engines, there will be a 2.0-litre TDI with 177bhp, a 3.0-litre TDI with 204bhp, a 3.0-litre TDI with 245bhp and a 3.0-litre TFSI with 300bhp. All of these Audi engines use advanced direct injection technology to produce the highest possible fuel burn rate.

Some of the new technology in the A6 that aim to reduce fuel consumption and CO2 output include Audis Start-Stop system, an energy recovery system and innovative thermal management concept. With the help of technology and aerodynamic efficiency the new A6 is 19% more fuel efficient than the outgoing model, which also makes it one of the most economical cars in its sector.

Audi has another A6 model in the pipe line, the Audi A6 hybrid, which by combining a 2.0-litre TFSI petrol engine with an electric motor will not produce any CO2 during urban driving and return up to 45.6mpg, and will also have 245bhp under the bonnet.
