The Htc Wildfire-a Review

This summer sees HTC release their latest handset

, the Wildfire. This is an Android handset pitched at a more budget price in an attempt to win many new fans.

With regards to multi media usage, the Wildfire looks an impressive handset. The customary camera facility is there, boasting a 5 million pixel rating. To ensure the picture are always crisp then the autofocus is a welcome addition, as is the LED flash, making taking pictures in poorer lighting conditions a much more satisfying experience. Geo tagging is also supported by the handset. Geo Tagging is a process which adds geographical information to photos, for the user this means the phone stores information about exactly where and when each photo is taken. The Wildfire can also capture video, perfect for those impromptu summer moments you don't want to miss. The addition of a 3.5mm headphone jack is a welcome one, ultimately meaning any headphones can be used with the handset. You can even listen to local or national radio thanks to HTC building an FM tuner into the unit. MP3, WAV and AAC files are amongst the multitude supported by the Wildfire, and with the addition of a 32GB microSD card, there will always be plenty of space to store your music. For those looking for more basic phone tasks, then the 512MB of on board memory will more than suffice.

The HTC Wildfire operates on the 2.1 Android operating system, a platform that has been taken on board by many manufacturers, however the overlay of HTC's own "Sense" user interface adds a real wow factor to proceedings thanks to gorgeous looking menu systems and clever touchs that make using the phone a real fun experience. One aspect of Sense that will immediately appeal to the younger crowd is the Friendstream widget, which collaborates friend information from a host of social networking sites and puts it all together in one place. To the user this basically saves logging onto Facebook, and then onto Twitter in order to keep up to date. Obviously such features require great connectivity and the Wildfire boasts EDGE, GPRS and 3G, so no matter where you are you can always stay up to date. And even when at home the inclusion of WiFI means the handset will automatically connect to your own router for an even quicker experience.

Thanks to the proposed lower end price point for the HTC Wildfire, this could well be the handset to bridge the gap between feature phones and smartphones, and ultimately please a legion of mobile phone fans the world over.
