Toyota has just launched the Toyota Etios sedan which will be followed by Toyota Etios hatchback or now being called the Etios Liva to be launch by April 2011. The Etios Liva hatchback will be powered by a 1.2-litre four-cylinder engine with peak power peeking near the 80PS mark. Diesel option will be the 1.4-litre D-4D engine, and the car will have a fixed geometry turbo configuration. This is one of the lightest hatchbacks around weighing in at just 890kgs. Price of the Liva is expected to range between Rs. 4.5-6.0 lakhs.
Toyota is looking to produce and sell 70,000 units of both the models in 2011. Toyota's decision to make the global launch of the Etios in India, reflects the importance of the world's second-fastest growing major economy for auto makers.
