The Many Credit Card Offers In Ireland – But Which to Choose?
Ireland had over an astonishing 2.3 million credit cards in 2007 and that number has grown substantially as we near 2010
. Ireland citizens are one of the top users of credit cards in the world. Due to this there is a great deal of credit card offers available, all ever so competing. I suppose the one to choose depends on your personal needs. There are a variety of credit cards out there on the market to be chosen from, but before you decide which credit card you want to apply for take time to choose wisely and consider exactly how you will be using it. Once your needs are clear you can start the process of comparing the different credit cards and the various deals that the credit card companies have. There are
credit cards aimed at those who wish to transfer the balance from other cards. Balance transfer credit cards are becoming increasingly popular as people try to save money on interest. These types of cards give you a low or zero percent interest rate on your balance that you transfer from your old card to your new card. These rates are going to be drastically different from card to card. Also how long you get this introductory rate can vary from provider to provider. Some will only provide the special rate for six months while there are others that provide the special rate for as long as you have the transferred balance on the card. Just remember that if you are ever late on a payment you will run the risk of losing your introductory rate. Then there are the 0% credit cards that are actually broken up into two kinds of credit cards. The first are the 0% balance transfer credit cards that allow you to not pay interest on balances transferred as covered above. Then there are credit cards that offer 0% interest on new purchases. These types of credit cards provide you with an introductory period to which no interest is assessed to new purchases. This time period can be any where from 3 months to one year. These can be a great way to make a big purchase and pay it off with in the time frame that you are paying no interest. This can allow you to get the big ticket items you want now with out paying additional for them. Also most credit cards offer grace periods all the time for new purchases where you do not pay interest if you pay the purchase off with in the time frame, usually 30-60 days. Last there are
rewards credit cards that offer many extra benefits to their card holders. These types of credit cards give you the opportunity to earn points for every pound that you spend. Each pound has a set number of points depending on the card. These points can be used for a variety of services and other amenities. You can use you points for flights, hotels, spas, and for shopping at certain stores. If you are one of the many credit card holders that use their cards for almost all their expenses these points can add up very quickly. Just remember that if you do use your card for this purpose, to get the full advantage of the points, it is vital that you be responsible with you balance. You will need to have enough discipline to make sure that your balance if paid off each month so that you avoid the interest.
