Take care not to be inflexible in your rules and plans. There are always things that happen that do not go according to your plan and your flexibility to change the plan and rules will determine your success.

It is very important for leaders to communicate effectively. You have to be able to make your team understand your vision, plan, and strategies. There are several important communication skills for leaders, and those are public speaking, non verbal communication, and listening. Receiving criticisms and feedback the right way is also crucial in communication skills for leaders.

It is very important for leaders to build relationship with their subordinates. One of the main tasks as leaders is to motivate and support the team. This in turn, will make sure the team members give their maximum effort to achieve the goal. To be able to build good relationships you must have empathy and good listening skills. People usually work much better under compassionate leaders than dictatorial and cruel leaders. Keep in mind to keep all work related relationships professionals.

All leaders must make a decision. This means that decision making one of the most important skills in leadership. Your subordinates rely on you to make the decisions for the group. You need to be able to keep cool head and be rational even in tough times and emergencies. You need to balance between risk taking and caution, intuition and facts.

Delegation is among one of the top seven leadership skills you must have. No one can do everything by themselves. You can only achieve your goal if you are able to know how to delegate your work. This skill comprises of knowing who the best person for the job and supervising the work of your subordinates. Delegating work and responsibility also helps to empower your subordinates. It makes them feel that they are contributing something for the team.
