There are many different lead generation techniques you can use to drive traffic to your website
, product offer, or list building campaign. Too many times though, marketers will continue to do what doesn't work, instead of taking the time to test and find out what works best.
Some people like to try and follow the newest, latest and greatest ideas that come out, and never give the basic, good methods time to see if they will really work for them. It all comes down to finding the best way that works for you to get massive, targeted traffic in front of whatever it is you are trying to promote.
What you must understand is that you will end up paying for traffic one way or another. Either you will pay money for it through paid advertisement, or you are going to pay with time. If you don't pay with money, then it will take time to generate traffic using the organic methods such as SEO (Search Engine Optimization), and article marketing.
Both ways have their benefits and their downsides. With paid traffic, you can pretty much get it instantly. The downside is, unless you keep paying money for it, it stops immediately. Organic traffic takes longer to get going, but once you have it, it can last for months or even years. It also takes a lot more work to get the traffic coming in.
With that being said, you are going to probably want to have a mixture of paid and organic traffic. With paid traffic, the best method would be Pay Per Click (PPC). Although, if you've never placed a Pay Per Click ad before, it's better if you learn the ropes first. It's real easy to lose a lot of money if you don't know what you are doing with it.
The next technique is article marketing. If you don't like to write, you can outsource this task. Just make sure you find a good ghost writer. There are a lot of people who offer their services to write, and can't. Remember, you get what you pay for. It's always a good idea to ask for a sample before you hire someone, so you don't end up wasting your time and hard earned money.
Social media has become huge in the last few years. It started with MySpace, and has continued with Facebook and Twitter along with a whole lot of other social media sites. Using social media to generate leads is primarily a free method unless you buy ad space. Social media marketing has become quite an effective technique to drive massive traffic to offers and websites in the last few years. If you know what you are doing, you can become very successful with lead generation in the social media arena.
Another good free technique is using video. Now days you can upload video to Youtube and Google to name a couple, and have a myriad of people flocking to watch. The downside to video marketing is there is a learning curve. It can take a bit of time to learn how to record professional looking video. If you can do this though, you should be able to drive massive amounts of targeted traffic to wherever you desire it to go.
One method you can't ignore is backlinking. The more links that are pointing to your site, the more organic traffic you will receive. If you don't like doing this technique yourself (it can get very boring), you can hire someone to do this for you also. The benefits of backlinking can go a long way in driving a lot of traffic to where you want it to go.
When it comes to lead generation, you are going to want to use a few different methods at the same time. Just take the time to learn how make the most of these techniques before going all out with them. It shouldn't take long before you start seeing a real boost in your targeted lead generation.
