The first, and probably the most important, way beekeepers can keep themselves safe while beekeeping is to wear protective clothing that covers their entire bodies, leaving no piece of skin exposed. It incredibly important for keepers to wear a hat and mesh veil, as the face is the most vulnerable area of the body and an easy target for bees to sting. Beekeepers also wear a full-length suit made of a lightweight material that covers the keeper's entire body, including the arms and legs. Gloves are also an important piece of beekeeper supplies; although some people find them rather cumbersome and difficult to work with, they are an important element in protecting one's hands from the bees' stings.

There are certain supplies available which help in creating less agitation among the bees while working with them. Among those supplies smoke is commonly used and considered most effective. This smoke can be produced by burning wood, pine needles and paper etc. Some farmers use aerosol cans but the former way is more cost effective. When the soldiers of bee's colony smell any danger sign they expel pheromones to alert all other in colony. This smoke, actually, blocks the way of pheromones leaving bees uninformed of intruders and they remain calm. Secondly,this smoke gives a sense to bees that a hive is on fire which urges them to leave the colony.

While bees are more than capable of finding their own sources of food, many beekeepers like to supplement the bees' diet by using a feeder filled with sugar syrup, another of the available beekeeper supplies. The sugar syrup prevents starvation of the bee colony in case of bad times and also stimulates the laying of eggs. Feeders come in a variety of styles and shapes, and which one is used is just based on the beekeeper's personal preference. Feeders placed inside the hive come in hive top, pail, or division board styles, while during the summer an outside entrance feeder can be used.

Artificial hives are also available in the market in order to get thing easier for bees and putting energies in right direction. Bees consume energy in making honey rather than constructing hives. The use of artificial hive helps farmers in generating more revenue by getting more honey.These hives contain wax at its base to facilitate the collection of honey. The base of wax is integrated structure of tiny hexagonal structures which are pressed from either side just like natural honey comb.
