The Nascar Sanctioned Series

The National Association for Stock Car Auto Racing (NASCAR) sanctions various auto racing sporting events in different regions of the United States

. These racing series are attended by car racing professionals from across the country and hailed as amongst the most highly-attended auto racing events worldwide. There are a total of 6 auto racing series that NASCAR currently sanctions. These include the Sprint Cup, the Nationwide Series, the Camping World Cup Series, the Canadian Tire Series, the Corona Series, and regional racing series.

The Sprint Cup is NASCAR's highest professional level competition. It is also hailed as the most popular and the most profitable among all of NASCAR auto racing series. The first title sponsor was held in 1972, sponsored by the R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company. The series continues until today, with more and more racers entering the competition every year. The recent 2011 Sprint Cup season was composed of 36 races in 10 months.

The second highest professional level in the NASCAR racing series is the Nationwide Series. The modern version of this series started in 1982 with the sponsorship of Budweiser. Budweiser's owner, Anheuser- Busch Brewing continued to sponsor the series until 2007 when it was turned over to Nationwide Insurance. It is the only series among the top three to race outside the United States. Brad Keselowskj is the most recent Nationwide Series champion, held in 2010.

Joining the top three of NASCAR series is the Camping World Truck Series. This series features modified pickup trucks which began in 1994 as the NASCAR SuperTruck Series. The series was initially considered something of an oddity or a "senior tour" for NASCAR drivers, but has grown in popularity with the production of Sprint Cup Series drivers who never attended the Nationwide Series. The name Camping World Truck Series was used starting 2009.

NASCAR's racing series in Canada, the Canadian Tire Series, started in 1981 based from the old CASCAR Super Series. The new version of this series runs through six of Canada's provinces for a total of 13 events. The cars used in this series are slightly different from those used in America with a more street look. A NASCAR series was also established in Mexico in December of 2006 known as the Corona Series, in replacement of the Desafio Corona Series and began in 2007.

Finally, NASCAR also sanctions regional racing series like the Whelen All- American Series, Whelen Modified Tour and the Auto Elite Division.
