The New Desire Z - A Perfect Smartphone From HTC

HTC have come a long way in the past two years, from a manufacturer of Windows phones to an esteemed high end phone manufacturer. The new Desire Z model signals yet another advancement on their impressive Android range of models as this new model features a fully functional Qwerty keyboard, amongst a host of other great features.

HTC as a manufacturer have become a brand that is associated with great build quality on there models, and the Desire Z maintains this tradition. Any model with a physical keypad may be prone to weaker elements in the design, however it is refreshing to see the desire Z still feeling robust and generally well built. The design features lot of brushed aluminium which adds a touch of style as well as maintaining the high end feel that this model oozes. The phone tips the scales at quite weighty 180 grammes, which despite adding to the sense of build quality, is bordering on what can be classed as acceptable for a mobile phone. A great quality screen measuring 3.7 inches can be found on the Desire Z. Although the first impression of the lack of an AMOLED screen is disappointing, upon using the phone this quickly vanishes as the screen proves to be one of the very best available. At 480 x 800 pixels the resolution is very high end, as is the colour palette which can handle up to 16 million. Being a capacitive touchscreen responsiveness is quick and precise, and thanks to multi touch the phone utilises the much favoured pinch and zoom method. The familiar set of Android keys are housed beneath the screen, with Home, Back, Menu and Search all present.

The Qwerty keypad found on the HTC Desire Z is more impressive than examples featured on other models. The "Z" style hinge differs from the more common slider styled design. The end product is a keypad the arcs out from under the screen and ends up almost level with it. This means that when it comes too actually typing, the screen remains well away from the keys, making for a much more pleasing experience. Keys are well spaced out, and should you choose not to use the physical version, a good quality virtual variety is found on the screen. The Desire Z is an incredibly user friendly handset, thanks in part to the Sense UI that it uses, making a host of tasks and functions easy and fun. Social networking updates are all located together, reducing the need for logging into separate accounts. A new addition to Sense are the Cloud based services that allow the user to back up a host of material and access it via HTC's website. The HTC Desire Z displays a perfect blend of great looks, excellent build quality and most importantly a massive range of excellent features, one of which is the eye catching keypad that is sure to convert many people over to this new addition to the range.
