The New Nokia N8-a Closer Look
Nokia have unveiled their latest handset, the N8
. This high specification smartphone looks set to take the mobile handset market by storm, and has many potential customers waiting with baited breath for its release.
Thanks to the modern phone user wanting to constantly stay in touch, whether it be on phone, online or via e mail, Nokia have loaded this handset with a mammoth array of connectivity options so the above is not a problem. Whilst on the move the WLAN, GPRS and EDGE support means this is not a problem. The inclusion of WiFi means that the experience is even faster when connected to your own personal network, or a publicly available one. Such connectivity means that Push notification of e mails is possible, and the unit will also synchronise with ms outlook mail and contacts. Customers also have access to the Ovi Store, Nokias own facility for downloading various applications. The Ovi Maps features comes free with the phone, turning the handset into your own personal satellite navigation system thanks to it use of an in built compass and global positioning. New maps can also be downloaded via the Ovi Store. Social Networking fans will love the Nokia N8, thanks to Facebook and Twitter widgets pre loaded on the homescreen.
The Nokia N8 has fairly standard smartphone dimensions, 113.5 x 59.1 x 12.9 mm and a weight of 135 grammes. Within the chassis the screen is incorporated and this is a cut above the rest. Measuring 3.5", the capacitive touchscreen boast a stunning 16 million colour range and an impressive resolution of 360 x 640 pixels. Utilising AMOLED technology to produce a crisper image with deeper natural black colours, the screen is also made from a scratch resistant material and features an accelerometer chip to perform the screens auto rotate functions.
The other feature which is really impressive about the Nokia N8 is the 12 million pixel camera. Using high quality Carl Zeiss optics, this high resolution snapper benefits from a Xenon flash, autofocus and zoom. With regards to video capture, the N8 really excels, filming footage in a resolution of 720P, which in layman's terms is the hallowed High Definition standard. Although these images look great on the handsets own screen, they are appreciated better on an HD television, thus Nokia have cleverly added an HDMI socket to allow this.
The Nokia N8 certainly looks like the handset that the true mobile phone fans will look forward to in the coming months. Specification is high, from connectivity right through to the camera, and the phone looks great as well. Watch out for this phone very soon.
