The New Volkswagen Sharan Is Out There

Volkswagen revealed the technical information and a complete photo gallery of the new generation Sharan

. Unlike the previous generation, the platform is fully developed by Volkswagen and subtle design is taken from other models in the range.

The Germans from Volkswagen unveiled the complete gallery and technical details of the new generation Sharan. The new Sharan is 22 inches long and 30 kg lighter than the previous generation. Moreover, those of the Volkswagen announced that the new Sharan is the most economical MPV in the world with a consumption of 5.5 percent to 2.0 liter TDI with 140 hp. The length of this model is 4.85 meters and the monocab in Wolfsburg offers up to seven seats and load space between 885 and 2430 liters (both values are valid for the version with five seats).

Sharan reached the third generation now, and the first two generations reached a total amount of 607,700 units sold. The TSI engines and TDI units of this model too, benefits of the direct injection technology and are 21% more efficient than engines of the previous generation. The new Sharan is available with two TSI's, one of 150 hp and one of 200 hp, while TDI engines is providing 140 TDI, respectively 170 hp. All engines comply with the rules of the Euro5 and are available with a six-speed DSG transmission. Regarding TSI 200 PS version, the is offered with standard transmission. If Volkswagen's customers do not opt for a DSG transmission, they will receive a six-speed manual transmission.

There is another version of the BlueMotion Sharan, equipped with a 150 hp 1.4 TSI engine. This is 30 kg lighter than the previous generation of this model in a similar configuration, although it has 22 inches long. All engines reaching 170 hp benefits of a standard stop-start system and a recovery system for lost kinetic energy while using brakes. The new model will be built at Volkswagen's factory in Palmela, Portugal. The launch on German market will take place in late August this year.

Volkswagen customers can choose for a parking assist system Park Assist, a camera for reversing, video display system pilot Park and more. Standard level includes ESP equipment, seven airbags including the one for driver's knees, sliding doors to rear seats, air-conditioning system, electro-mechanical power steering, electric windows front and rear, multifunction display, central locking, height-adjustable driver seat and the RCD 210 audio system. Front suspension is MacPherson type, while the rear suspension is Multi-link in four points. Optionally, if Volkswagen customers desires, they can benefit of an adaptive input chassis control system, called DCC.

The trunk provides space between 300 and 2430 liters - depending on seating configuration. In case if we remove the third row of seats and the second too, loading space shall have a length of 2.1 meters. The version with five-seat of Sharan offers a volume for the trunk of 885 liters. The model can be configured in versions with five seats and in versions with six or seven seats. Equipment levels available are Trendline, Comfortline and Highline.
