The Newpollz Idea

The Newpollz Idea. A new Social Network is born

We live in a society where, to most of us, it's all about the image. We came to a point where we are what we wear, we are what we drive, we are what we eat and we are what we earn. We came to desperately require attention and we now care more about what the people think of us than we care about our own being.

Not only did we stop being individuals, we started being groups, and communities, and races, and types, and "schools of thought".

The ones who carry "studies" on us define our opinion as "the majority of people who think..." or "most of the people who believe..." even though theses studies are carried on what we call "samples" which clearly are just biased and unrepresentative, often paid, subsets of a given population.

Think about it. How often do we hear about studies that say, for example (this is not an actual number), that 67% of the world's population believes in God.

Now, by pondering on this statement, please ask yourself: Did I receive any tweet asking me for my opinion? Did I receive a form by mail to ask me if I did or did not , in fact, believe in God? You could have told them! Why are you now part of the 67% or the of the other 23%? Are there some other people representing your religious beliefs without your consent? Did the ones who carried the study decide that if you are a hispanic homosexual male then certainly, you do not believe in God because that one Mexican gay guy who apparently represented you did not?

Another example. Let's say I can't decide between whether to buy the new Dell Laptop or the new Asus one. Who am I going to turn to in order to make my choice? Biased reviewers who always receive the good non-defective and fully pre-tested prototypes directly from the companies themselves? Or maybe I should ask the people who actually own the dang thing? Instead, what if I could ask... Everyone?

This is where we came up with the idea behind Newpollz. It's kind of simply put, but... What if we could just ask everyone about what they think about... well, everything! Imagine, worldwide polls where the voters are not influenced by anyone. Polls on which they can vote in the comfort of their home. Where they can share their opinions freely and anonymously (if they chose to do so of course). Polls where their options are more than just Democratic or Republican and on which they can vote more than once every four years.

I speak for the millions of people who were never asked for their opinion when I say that we are not a sample. We are not a subset of a population. We are not a percentage. We are not what "some" of the rest of us think and we certainly not what the "sum" of those who look and live like us believe.

We are our own voice and we are our own vote. We are the world wide web. We are more than 2 billion connected individuals on the internet whom each of us possess a mind and an opinion of our own.

The polls on newpollz never close. People will still be able to vote on the poll some random guy in California started, and we will still be able to see what everyone thinks 10 years from now. You've seen polls on the internet before, we didn't re-invent the wheel here, we just brought the polls to one place to introduce the you-vote-on-mine-I-vote-on-yours concept.

We don't really care about your gender, your race, your age, your sexual orientation, your education, your bank account or your lifestyle. We don't organize statistics based on theses elements. We only care about YOUR opinion. We only care about OUR opinion (we do vote too don't we?).

Check it out, it's all happening right now at newpollz.com. It's free and always will be. You don't need to sign up to vote, only to submit new polls which really takes about 30 seconds. Voting restriction is determined by IP address, therefore one vote per IP is authorized by poll.
