The Presentation Is More Than The Gift

Have you ever gone to a wedding and stood awestruck by the piles of exquisitely wrapped packages

? White with black, black with pink polka dots, black with silver, black with cream, black with blood red; it seems like black is the common denominator for wedding gifts. I love the big silver bows adorning the larger surprises. If they were never opened, just set forever looking promising and tantalizing I would be happy. Rotten wrapping doesn't help an inferior gift but splendid wrapping can really spruce up a mediocre treat.

I don't know when the tissue and bags came into vogue, but what a brilliant idea. Not only are the bundles beautiful, but how convenient! Even the laziest of gift givers can give goodies with grace. I shop exclusively for them at the dollars stores because, although I am into presentation, I am also very frugal. I hate to spend as much for the wrapping as the wares.

Shortly after the bags and tags and tissue came into being, a myriad of confetti-like stuffing to go along with it, appeared. You have to be careful or you can incur a real cleaning job. Nothing says festivities like confetti and bags.

The traditional, conventional, long standing paper, ribbons and bows is always in fashion. The bigger the bow, the better. Except when I bought my husband a new truck for his birthday and they wanted $50.00 for a bow. That was excessive so I tied my own cheapy thing, so sad. The paper choices available are stunning, especially at Christmas, with the foils and velvets.

But like I said, for me, nothing compares with a shrink wrapped basket. I love to give baskets as gifts filled with theme items: cooking, reading, movie watching, writing, quilting. Any hobby can become an inspiration for a basket. And the basket-giving pinnacle is shrink wrapping. Transparent and shiny with hope of hidden treasures unseen. You can buy bag sealers, heat shrink tubing and film for all your shrink wrapping needs.

Gifts are why we love birthday, Christmas and other special days. Whether they are wrapped, bagged, tagged or shrunk; big bows or little one, we appreciate them all.
