, is still faced with a few problems and inefficiencies in the products that are being offered. These are quite visible when trying to transport huge amounts of data from one place to another. The standard DVD which was seen as a high quality product is now seen as something that is not worth watching by many movie lovers. There is also blu ray disc that will be your option.

A new device was introduced to the market recently, giving much needed respite to these issues. This new device is called the blu ray disc. Although the blue ray disc looks a lot similar to the traditional DVD, it has more features and capabilities than the latter. Unlike the DVD which was read by a red laser, the blu ray disc is read by a blue laser projected on the disc and hence the name 'blu ray disc' was given.

Then what's so special about a disc that needs a blue laser? You may ask. Well there are many advanced qualities in the blu ray disc. One of them is the enormous storage capacity. A normal DVD would carry about 5 GB storage capacities. Blu ray disc can go up to about ten times of that. A dual layer blu ray disc will carry about 50 GB while a single layer blu ray disc will carry close to 25 GB in storage space.

With the latest technology changes, a DVD which was used for watching movies, etc in most households was later seen as something old and useless. When a person could watch movies, play games and listen to music on a blu ray disc which had more disc space and came with better quality, why would anyone want to bother buying a DVD with lesser storage space?

With the increased usage of high-definition video and audio features on the blu ray disc, consumers now have the ability of watching their favorite movie at the comfort of their home. Going to a cinema hall is not needed at all when you can relive that same experience at home with no additional transport cost, etc.

Also, all gamers out there would find the same special qualities when playing a game on your Play station, Xbox or Nintendo with using blu ray disc. Consumer producers of blu ray discs would also find a lot of advanced features that will suit the business needs like advanced security and anti piracy features. Regional codes make market segmentation and specialization much easier than what was before.

People are embracing this new technology rather gleefully around the world and why shouldn't they? Blu ray discs should be available for everyone any time soon. Keep your fingers crossed till then.
