The Reality of a DUI
In Arizona news, a DUI driver in Mesa crashed her car into a residence's front yard, as reported by KPHO.com. The woman, a 19-year-old driving during a November Sunday morning, "missed a T' intersection along the 1600 block of West Kiowa, jumped the curb, clipped a tree and came to rest against the home," Mesa police Sergeant Edward Wessing stated. He also indicated that alcohol was indeed a factor in the crash.
The driver was taken to the hospital, but once released, she will be faced with extreme DUI charges. Though the house was damaged, none of its residents were injured.
This instance is a very plausible reality for drivers across Arizona. A DUI charge can happen to anyone who drinks and gets behind the wheel; though one would hope that instances as extreme as the abovementioned 19-year-old's rarely occur, any DUI violation can bring with it a slew of consequences and victims.
The fact remains that drinking and driving is a serious crime in Arizona and it can happen to anyone. A DUI charge can bring with it a large amount of life-changing ramifications. Depending on whether the charge occurs as your first offense or not, punishments for driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol include extensive jail time, revoking of one's license, and even the loss of one's line of employment. If you want to avoid being faced with the consequences of a DUI charge, the first step is to avoid driving if you have had anything to drink.
But if that's not an option, or if you have already been faced with the charge, your next step should be to contact a qualified DUI attorney in Arizona.
