The Rocky Road to Recruitment

The Rocky Road to Recruitment

The Rocky Road to Recruitment

I had been in and out of jobs long before it became fashionable to blame the recession. My parents would say it's because of my insistence on my choice of career. I'm quite artistic by nature and studied fine art in university. However, I only paint in my free time and graphic design, which I learnt on the side, became the career path I followed.

This was how I ended up, involuntarily, in the high-fashion world of advertising. An industry that was very heavily impacted by the recession, forcing me out of a steady wage and into the dark murky world of freelance.

My friends and ex-colleagues advised me towards a recruitment agency and there were several to choose from. However, I needed one that would take my work seriously rather than act like a glorified job seekers. Which is exactly what I found. And I didn't have to move away from the North East.

I was looking for a role either in advertising but preferably in a more pure graphic design role. I'd previously had one bad experience with a recruitment company when I first left University. Where they failed to give the proper care and attention I felt my new agency did just the opposite, even sitting with me over a cup of tea while we talked shop.

It's not that easy find Creative Jobs in Newcastle especially so when it comes to copy-writing or design. Jobs in Advertising can be scarce too, which is why I'm glad I went down the recruitment agency route.

I felt these guys were a fresh thinking agency with a real personal insight into the people they deal with. Plus they delivered on their promise. They didn't send me on a run-around to half-baked jobs. They listened when I told them what I was looking to get into and only offered the right kind of jobs and were upfront when they said that the current climate left jobs a bit scarce. It was only a matter of two weeks before I found a very fine position in a private organisation.

Conclusion

With the many Media Recruitment Agencies in Newcastle, the north-east, and the numerous numbers of people trying to find work, I didn't think it was possible to find a steady job. Many see you as another number and are experts at routine protocol. These guys at the recruitment agency in Newcastle went above and beyond. They made sure my happiness came first.
