The Samsung Galaxy S2 And Htc One S - Key Features Reviewed

The Samsung Galaxy S2 has proven to be one of the most popular Android smartphones of all time

, clocking up millions of sales around the world. To showcase the latest version of Android, HTC has released its impressive new One range. This includes the HTC One S, which is one of the best handsets to date from the manufacturer. In this article I will compare some of the key features of these two handsets.

The Samsung Galaxy S2 has an 8 megapixel camera, as does the HTC One S. On paper, they are fairly evenly matched in this respect, but due to the fact that the HTC device is much newer, it has some more up to date technology, especially regarding the lens and software. The Samsung Galaxy S2 and HTC One S share a number of features in terms of their cameras, such as the usual autofocus, touch focus, image stabilisation and LED flash. The HTC phone though, has the impressive ability to capture still images whilst filming video footage. Both phones are evenly matched in their video filming capabilities, with 1080p full HD capture provided by both.

Both the HTC One S and the Samsung Galaxy S2 utilise the Android operating system, although these are in two different versions. The HTC One S ships with the brand new Ice Cream Sandwich version of the software, while the Samsung Galaxy S2, obviously because it is an older phone, has the previous Gingerbread version. The Samsung phone will shortly be receiving an update to the new version though, but at this stage it is unclear if there will be any features which will not be compatible because of the phones older hardware. Most features should work with no problems though. The new software has the most new features added to any version of Android thus far. Among its most publicised features is Google Beam, which allows users to wirelessly send and receive files, much like Bluetooth. However, the compatible file types are much more wide ranging, as users can send entire apps and even HD movies. Face Unlock is also a new feature on Android Ice Cream Sandwich. It uses face recognition software in conjunction with the phones front facing camera to unlock the phone, doing away with PIN codes and passwords.

As far as processing power is concerned, the HTC One S comes out on top with a 1.5 GHz dual-core processor which provides outstanding levels of performance to a wide range of the phones functions, including both hardware and software. The Samsung Galaxy S2 falls slightly short with a 1.2 GHz dual-core chip. Unless you are a technology enthusiast and are well versed in such features, you are unlikely to notice the difference, as the processor on the Galaxy S2 is still very powerful.

Later this year, Samsung will be releasing the Galaxy S3, which will give HTCs flagship, the One X a real run for its money. Until then, the Samsung Galaxy S2 and HTC One S are among the finest Android smartphones out there. Although it has been available for over a year now, the Galaxy S2 is a great choice, as reflected in its consistently strong sales. The HTC One S is a great alternative and a great choice for those who are looking for the most up to date technology.
