The Simple Life - Bodybuilding Made Easy
If you had a time machine which would allow you to travel back in time tens of thousands of years
, you'd likely encounter cavemen with some pretty seriously muscularity. They sure didn't know much about keto diets, and they obviously didn't have membership to Gold's Gym. Cavemen didn't have creatine, they didn't read FLEX Magazine, and anabolic steroids were beyond the scope of their imagination. Rather, they spent their days sleeping, hunting, gathering, hiding, and essentially running around naked eating anything they could kill or find. It wasn't the most sophisticated way of life, but they managed to do it. And thanks to their rigorous lifestyle, many of them had physiques which would be defined as ripped' by today's standards.
How did they do it? They kept it simple of course. Eat anything you can find. Move weight (likely in the forms of rocks, etc). Get a lot of exercise running around (cardio). They did it the simple way, and so can you.
First, you'll need to keep your food simple piles of meat, lots of veggies, plenty of leafy greens, and a whole lotta water. It's all the cavemen had access to, as whey protein powder wasn't around yet, and they still managed to grow some serious muscle mass while retaining their conditioning. Next, you'll need to nail down the training aspect. The cavemen certainly didn't enjoy the luxury of modern gyms. They probably only lifted occasionally, when heavy objects such as rocks needed moved. Most likely, they achieved muscle mass though climbing, walking, hanging, crouching down, and any other physical requirement of their lifestyle. Cardio was completed in the morning upon waking. Essentially, they awoke hungry, and walked around until they found something to kill or harvest for caloric intake. Rest was easy as well. When they were tired, they slept. When the weather was bad or enemies were nearby, they kept their heads down. No need to commute to work each day. They lived in an area until the resources dried up, and then moved on to another region.
The lesson here is that you don't have to over think things in order to achieve a great physique, complete with great conditioning and a good cardiovascular base. You should approach your bodybuilding goal each day with the exact same simplicity. Eat clean, train heavy, focus on your goals, knock out lots of cardio, and spend a lot of time outdoors. You'll have a great sun tan, to boot!
There are some caveats, of course. Cavemen didn't live as long as we did. Their average lifespan would reach into their 30s, and not many of them saw their 40th birthdays. Hygienic care was of no concern, nor was preventative medicine. When something went wrong on them, they died. It's easy to romanticize their simple existence, but they were essentially very smart animals. We certainly wouldn't want to emulate much of their daily routine, but we can definitely learn a lot about achieving great conditioning without a lot of modern technology.
