However, once you get through the door, it is like entering a different world with a sunken dance floor, hip-to-hip crowds grooving to deep beats from top DJs, including NYC old-schoolers Franois K, Tedd Patterson and Louie Vega. This place, which features a crystal-clear sound system, holds the honor of winning numerous awards in its decade of existence, each of which is truly deserved.

Jane Ballroom

This place opened its doors in the year 2009 and the bi-level lounge decked out in exotic vintage dcor is a place where you can spot numerous celebrities like Scarlett Johansson, Radioheads Thom Yorke, the Olsen twins, and Kirsten Dunst. The atmosphere is relaxed and casual.

Sullivan Room

This unmarked subterranean space has hosted and still does have, some of the best house and techno bashes the city has to offer. The words that come to mind while describing this place is unspoiled and unpretentious because it is far away from being swanky and yet you can see throngs of people partying the night away in the Sullivan Room on weekends.

Pacha

Pacha is a worldwide glam-club chain with outposts in nightlife capitals such as Ibiza, London and Buenos Aires. This club debuted in the U.S. in 2005 with this posh joint, where the crowd is full of heavyweights ranging from local hero Danny Tenaglia to big-time visiting jocks of the big-room house and electro variety. Like most of the big clubs, do check the lineup before you enter.

Ph-D at Dream Downtown

The Dream Downtowns rooftop club Ph-D might have come into existence recently, but its popularity has already grown in leaps and bounds. This is why the velvet ropes go up at 8 p.m. to keep out the anyone and everyone, so you must come here on time. Once you are inside you will experience an eclectic ambience with Empire State Building views and a decor reminiscent of 80s excessleather banquettes, black lacquer and shiny chrome. Leonardo DiCaprio, Russell Simmons and Khloe Kardashian have been often seen here.

The Darby

This cabaret supper club is the brainchild of the team behind 1OAK and Butter. It is decorated in 1920s style with a dimly lit lounge featuring a stage in the dining room where a six-piece band performs nightly. P. Diddy, Kanye West and Beyonce have been spotted here often. The food here is awesome thanks to Food Network star chef Alex Guarnaschellis expert touch in nouveau American dishes, such as oyster-stuffed filet of beef.

Beatrice Inn

Owned by Andrew W.K. and some friends, it is a combination of a concert hall, a club, a lounge, and a bar, which gives you everything in one place! The drinks are available at cheap rates and the sound system is touted to be the best in the city, which brings crowds of party animals to this place each night.

Kiss and Fly

Situated in the Meatpacking District, this club is tough to get into as it maintains its exclusivity big time! So make sure you dont create a scene once inside and are attired accordingly as the bouncers will immediately throw you out. The dcor is a mix of the early- to mid-90s with chandeliers and painted ceilings, which make this hot spot seem ideal for a Roman bacchanalia. The dance floor is packed with DJs and bands churning out the latest tunes.

Max Fish

This nightclub was in the news for all the wrong reasons in the 90s because of the drug dealers lurking outside, but it is now a pseudo dive bar in the Lower East Side. Theres a pinball machine, jukebox and a pool table in the big, tall-ceiling room, a good amount of booths, and an overly bright bar area so that you can better see some local artwork.
