1. Isabela (Albemarie) Island; Being the largest island, it covers an area of 4640 sq km. The shape is very much similar to a sea-horse and said to be formed of six volcanoes.

2 Fernandina (Narborough) Island: This island is named after the King Ferdinand II for his sponsorship to the voyage of Columbus area 642 sq km. This is said to be the most western of all islands.

3 Pinta (Abingdon) Island: This Island is named after the masted ship (caravel) of Columbus. The main inhabitants of this island are tailed gulls and marine iguanas.

4 Marchena (Bindloe) Island: Named after Fray Antonio Marchena, the island is inhabited by Galapagos Hawks, Sea lions, Marchena lizards.

5 Genovesa (the Tower) Island: The Island is named after Genoa city of Italy which is also the birthplace of Columbus.

6 San Cristobal (Chatham) Island: the Island is named after St. Christopher the Patron Saint of sailors, where giant tortoise, various Boobies, Iguanas and Dolphins etc are primary inhabitants.

7 Espanola (Hood) Island: Named after Spain, the island is segregated from other islands and rich in different kinds of exclusive floras and faunas.

8 Floreana Island (Santa Maria); It is said to be named after one of the caravels of Columbus. Recently, it has been in news for the underwater volcano in its shores.

9 Santiago (San Salvador): The Island is named after St. James and usually covers an area of 585 sq km.

10 Santa Fe (Barrington): The Island is named after a city in Spain. Being a unique place, the island is the home of Galapagos land iguanas, Lava Lizards and numerous species of endemic birds.
