Some women get what are called cyclical lumps cysts that appear sometime before the start of the menstrual cycle, and later shrink or disappear. These are generally harmless.

You can have one or many breast cysts. They're often described as round or oval lumps with distinct edges. Historically, epidermoid cysts have been referred to by various terms, including follicular infundibular cysts, epidermal cysts, and epidermal inclusion cysts. The term epidermal inclusion cyst refers specifically to an epidermoid cyst that is the result of the implantation of epidermal elements in the dermis. To prevent scarring and infection, don't try to squeeze cysts yourself.

Different kinds of functional ovarian cysts can form during this cycle. In the follicular phase, follicular cysts may result from a lack of physiological release of the ovum due to excessive FSH stimulation or lack of the normal LH surge at mid cycle just before ovulation. The good news is that, like follicular cysts, practically all corpus luteum cysts will go away by themselves in a few weeks. Sebaceous Cysts are primarily a cosmetic problem or a nuisance if they form in body regions that are easily irritated, such as the armpit. These cysts are benign and do not develop into cancer.

Follicular cysts may rarely become as large as 3 or 4 inches. The majority of these cysts, even the large ones, go away after a month or two as the extra fluid dissolves back into the blood stream. In most cases, ganglion cysts will cause you no pain and require no treatment. Often, they go away on their own. The cure is often permanent, but preventing further cysts depends a great deal on the success of treating the underlying cause. You should be aware that there is a very real chance that your cyst may return after being removed and there is no guarantee that the surgery will be successful.
