The Truth About Futuristic Racing

I've never been much of a racing fan myself, but I do respect sports and have an idea for a new one. It's really weird though, because it will take over ten thousand earth years to finish and no one may ever know the outcome. Given enough political and social stability, if the contestants never do return, at least they'll be remembered.

The object of the race is to be the one to come closest to achieving ultimate density. The absurdity of it though that not only will you lose everyone you have ever known due to time drag, the probability is high that after a certain point of acceleration in speed, you and your racing craft will simply be crushed like canned heat. The explanation of course for you readers who may not be familiar with Einstein's theories is that the closer one approaches the speed of light, the denser one becomes. As one gets ever closer, he gets even denser. According to Einstein, that's all that happens- he just keeps getting denser and denser and never reaches the speed of light (I made up the part about 'ultimate' density; the density is infinite).

While I'm just conjecturing about the racer for C getting squashed, I would think something cool would happen as you approached the magic number. Maybe you'd explode into pure energy or something. In any case, your speed has a powerful affect on time relative to things moving at different speeds. Atomic clocks on jets have proved this to be correct, and 'The Planet of the Apes' was based on this exact theory. So I don't what future generations could enjoy such a race, but most of us will just have to be content with quantum mechanics for results within our lifetime.
