The Vacation Period With A New Dog

We know the definition of 'The Honeymoon Period' accustomed to describe the initial

, deliriously happy months of a relationship. Most people are on their finest behavior and feeling giddy and positive regarding the future. Regrettably, these times of what appears to be limitless joy generally wraps up.

An identical, albeit generally much smaller, vacation period is usually felt by new pet parents. Even though, unlike people in a new relationship, I don't think the dog or puppy is on its best behavior with the knowing that they're going to begin a new, hopefully long-term relationship. Rather, several dogs are in a situation of serious adjustment to what's a totally new world.

A new environment, sights, sounds, people and perhaps other animals may result in a dog type of turning down a bit (or a lot!) because they take in all this new information and attempt to discover their place in the world. This is related to a person being plopped down in a new country. It might seem easy to understand that they may take several days or weeks to calmly notice and figure things out.

Lots of people end up calling a dog trainer for aid only after weeks or months have passed using their new dog inside their home. Initially they put off calling because there does not appear to be a necessity. Their new dog is kind of calm, passive, and quiet. However, as the dog becomes modified and more secure their true personality shines through. With it usually comes a list of what, to their new family anyway, appear to be new behaviors (this could be excessive barking, inappropriate chewing, growling when food or toys are taken away).

The behaviors are not really new to the dog; they're just new to the dog in its new home. When these behaviors learn to show themselves, everyone is usually captured off guard. Therefore, they might in the beginning assume that these things are just a few time mistakes and the dog will go back to their 'normal' behavior soon without intervention on their part.
