The Wonders Of Tea
Tea, the aromatic beverage from agricultural leaves
, leaf buds and internodes, and the second widely-consumed drink in the whole world after water, has rooted its origins in China. Tea was discovered around 2700 B.C. as the Chinese people grew the plant species named camellia sinensis for ages in their small family gardens for private consumption.
It was only around the 1800s when the aroma of tea reached India and Ceylon via the British people and from then on, up to the present day, tea has travelled all four corners of the world. It is said to be the true elixir of life as, through the years, tea has proven its benefits.
The three major varieties of tea are The China, The India or Assam and the Hybrid. The China consists of smaller leaves and grows at higher altitudes. On the other hand, The Assam consists of larger leaves and thrives in lower altitude areas. The Hybrid, as the name implies, is a cross between the two varieties.
Teas are processed and produced in different packaging. With its growing popularity, traders are now producing it in different, more creative packages leaf, bagged, and even commercially powdered.
Enjoying the taste of a
loose leaf tea is said to be the most exciting among all other preparations. Nothing beats the original leaf as it produces the exact taste that one should get from the tea.
The leaf itself contains wholly the natural chemicals and essential oils. Breaking the leaf and bagging them loses the delightful flavor of the tea as the essential oils evaporate; leaving it dull and tasteless.
Tea stores may offer the whole leaf or the bagged; the decision is yours as to what to pick.
Certain tea products and names are famous in the market nowadays. Among these, the
organic Darjeeling Tea has gained an excellent reputation. Grown in the slopes of Darjeeling, India, its exceptional orthodox taste and aroma are unparalleled in the world. More and more people are now drawn to this exciting beverage as it does not only soothe the palate; it also refreshes the mind and even the soul.
