The Wrong Person Is Cleaning Your House

I often think that America is one of the only industrialized nations without domestic help

. I am in no way purporting we need a lower class to do the labor, I am just making an observation. In the history of the world, all industrialized nations and all people of means have always had help running the household, actually not just industrialized nations but all nations. In today's world the pressure on families to be more, do more, have more is greater than ever and even with all the labor saving devices we have come up with there is still too much to do! Our work week is long and our labors many. Somehow we need to cut back on the "must do's" and "have to do's" and concentrate on the people in our lives. "People not products", that is my mantra for 2010. People not things, puts a new slant on the way we look at life. Life can get pretty cluttered with all the stuff we surround ourselves with.

When my aunt and uncle moved to the Philippines several years ago, they lived very simply until the day that their container came from the States with all their belongings inside. A native that had been helping my aunt ask why American's like to fill their houses with so much stuff that they then have to spend all their time taking care of. That was a pretty astute questions from a simple, humble Philippino woman. She understood the value of time and that it is people not stuff that make us happy.

There are wonderful housecleaning services in Miami, not quite the domestics of times gone by but the only equivalent we have in this country today. They can help to take the pressure off and give us a little more time to do the things we really want to do, like spending quality time with our families and possibly a little down time to meditate and enjoy. We work too hard and play too little, maybe it is time to turn a little of that around. Is the wrong person cleaning your house? If that person is you , than it is very real possibility.
