The air conditioning market soars in the recent hot weather
Air conditioning in Manchester has grown by just under 10% in the past decade and this represents the UK market in general, with figures in the past few months rising even further due to the intense period of hot weather we have been experiencing.
Workplaces and houses have become unbearable in the heat of the early summer of 2010 and many people have decided to invest in air conditioning units to help keep themselves cool. This makes much better sense than buying mechanical fans which only circulate the hot air, causing a slight cooling but not at a consistent or desired level. Some workplaces even have a system in place which states if the temperature reaches a certain point, colleagues are legally permitted to leave the building as they cannot work to their optimum levels. Employers need to safeguard against such an event and many install air conditioning units as standard in most offices.
It becomes particularly difficult in the workplaces that have large amounts of computer equipment which generate a lot of heat. The equipment needs to be cooled considerably in order to maintain a proper working temperature. If the systems become too hot, the internal mechanisms can melt or become faulty. This could potentially be very expensive and cause a lot of damage to data or stored files. It also causes a lot of hassle to repair.
It is not just offices that need cooling. Commercial refrigeration has also been on the rise as more companies see the need to cool food or produce, particularly in a catering environment. If produce is not kept cool or frozen, the food can quite simply not be used. The whole business depends on the refrigeration, and could not survive without it in the spell of hot weather we have been experiencing lately.
